FSA Launches Critical Supply Workgroup
As coronavirus continues to impact our world, the Florida Sheriffs Association wants you to know the safety of our citizens remains our top priority. As the situation changes in Florida, FSA and the sheriffs are coordinating on the COVID-19 response efforts. The sheriffs ultimate priority is your safety.
FSA President Sheriff Bob Gualtieri established the Critical Supply Workgroup. The focus of this group is to help locate alternative supply lines for personal protective equipment (PPE) and other essential items needed for sheriff’s offices during this outbreak. This workgroup shares information with and among the 67 sheriffs’ offices. The first call was this week, where sheriffs’ office personnel started by exchanging best practices for locating supply and other methods that have been used to reduce the threat of COVID-19 in jails.
FSA is providing support through the vetting of companies as many criminals are using this public health crisis as an opportunity for fraudulent sales. FSA sent out a request and received a tremendous amount of support from the companies that participate in the conference program. Additionally, vendors of the 1122 program have approval from the federal government to do business with the sheriffs, and have been a resource during this time of need.
