*Under F.S. 668.6076, email addresses are public records. If you do not want your email address released in response to a public-records request, do not send electronic mail to the local tax collector’s office when trying to order your specialty license plate. Instead, contact them by phone or in writing.
Visit your local county tax collector or tag office, and request the Florida Sheriffs Association specialty plate. Individuals may purchase specialty plate vouchers as gifts for family members or friends by requesting a voucher instead of the physical specialty plate. For your convenience, you may give the clerk the inventory code, SKR, for the FSA specialty plate or voucher.
You may incur a $28 new license plate fee if you are not already scheduled to receive a new State of Florida license plate; a State of Florida license plate is usable for 10 years with a valid registration. Other charges may apply including, but not limited to, registration, administration, user and personalization fees. These fees may vary but can be obtained by contacting your local county tax collector office.
According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV), you should allow 6-8 weeks for the manufacturing and delivery of specialty plates.
Unfortunately, the Florida DHSMV does not offer specialty plates with logos for motorcycles because of a lack of space on the plate itself. If you have any further questions, please see the Specialty License Plate FAQ from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.
The fee comes back to us from the state as we work to ensure deputies and personnel receive advanced training that covers various areas from crisis intervention to assessment and tactics. The fee helps to prepare our deputies to keep the streets safe.
All counties were notified about the new specialty plates, including the FSA plate, that went into effect October 1, 2014. You do not need to bring in special paperwork, but for convenience, you may give the clerk the inventory code, SKR, for the FSA plate. Membership is not required to purchase.
