Tallahassee, FL (May 20, 2016) – Late this afternoon we were made aware that Sheriff Chris Blair was arrested and charged in relation to an incident which is currently being investigated by the Grand Jury in Marion County, FL. It is also our understanding that Governor Rick Scott has appointed Emery Gainey, a veteran law enforcement officer, to serve as the interim sheriff until an election can be held. As an association, we respect the process and will work closely with Sheriff Gainey to ensure public safety for the citizens of Marion County during this transition period. Any questions regarding the matter should be directed to the Governor and or State Attorney in the district.
