FSA’s CPP Joins Special Districts

April 08, 2021

Did you know that Florida has more than 1,700 Special Districts?  Special Districts provide limited governmental services for a very specific need, each of them focused on a defined geographic area, mostly local.  Fire control, library, mosquito, water control, community development, and hospital districts are just a few examples of the various types of special districts authorized under Florida law.  Each district provides unique services, but all with the same need to be accountable and accessible to the citizens they serve.

Through the partnership with the Florida Association of Special Districts (FASD), CPP staff were on hand to educate the leaders from special districts on the cost savings benefits of using the FSA’s Cooperative Purchasing Program during their quarterly meeting April 7 and 8 in Tallahassee. Thanks to the efforts of FASD President Jim Millican, FSA and FASD are collaborating on the needs of special districts to better serve those local leaders throughout Florida.

While in attendance CPP staff was able to provide technical assistance for existing customers.  Special districts truly benefit from the discounts on a wide range of items including:

  • Fire trucks and ambulances;
  • Equipment such as bulldozers, chippers, compactors, dump trucks, excavators, generators, and more.
