Richard R. Del Toro, Jr. has over 25 years of law enforcement experience with the Port St. Lucie Police Department. Appointed Interim Chief of Police in May 2023; Assistant Chief of Police, 2012–2023; commanded 400 sworn and civilian personnel and managed a $66M budget. Experienced in road patrol, Special Investigations, Internal Affairs, Professional Standards Division, and SWAT Team Commander. Reduced Port St. Lucie’s crime rate by 25% since 2013 while increasing population by 43%, earning recognition as one of the safest large cities in Florida. Successfully led re-accreditation of the department with “Excellence” in 2023.
