2024 Florida Sheriffs Academy Prepares New Sheriffs

December 12, 2024

Integrity, fairness, commitment, and accountability are crucial values for the Florida Sheriffs Association and foundational for their 2024 Florida Sheriffs Academy. This specialized course guides newly-elected Florida sheriffs in obtaining these values and provides an exceptionally informative and educational experience that is essential for the next generation of leaders. From December 8-13, 2024, current Florida sheriffs, association staff, and subject matter experts facilitated this training and provided opportunities for the new sheriffs to participate in crucial education tracks, network with many of Florida’s leaders, and learn best practices from sheriffs around the state.

“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the 10 newly appointed sheriffs across our great state. As law enforcement leaders in your communities, you are entrusted with the vital responsibility of protecting and serving with integrity, courage and dedication,” said Charlotte County Sheriff and FSA President Bill Prummell. “I look forward to working with you and, together with our fellow sheriffs, we will continue to uphold the values of justice, safety, and service to all Floridians.”

The Florida Sheriffs Academy provides a comprehensive curriculum, offering programs to strengthen participants’ leadership skills, business and personal ethics, management training, and fostering growth in the law enforcement profession. The 10 new sheriffs participated in a variety of professional development trainings including mentoring sessions, leadership training, communications and public relations, as well as gaining a better understanding of the state’s legislative process. The Academy provides the information and tools to create a thorough understanding of every aspect of each sheriff’s community.
