Tallahassee, Fla. (October 31, 2011) – Today, The Florida Sheriffs Association announced that their Jail Services Coordinator, Isaiah Dennard will represent Florida on the National Institute of Corrections Chief Jail Inspector Forum. Dennard will bring more than 25 years of experience to this position, including being named the 2009 Assessor of the Year and receiving the Distinguished Service Award from the Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission. It is this knowledge and experience that makes Dennard an ideal fit for this nationally recognized position, which will afford him the opportunity to highlight the best practices of the Florida Model Jail Standards to inspectors in other states.

“The Florida Sheriffs Association is fortunate to have such an accomplished employee as Isaiah, who will do an outstanding job coordinating all aspects of our state’s jail system,” said FSA Executive Director Steve Casey. “The NIC is a highly respected organization and we are pleased we have one of our own to serve alongside them.”

The NIC provides training, technical assistance, information services, and policy/program development assistance to federal, state, and local corrections agencies. Dennard will fill the role previously held by Lt. Jeff Owens of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.  Dennard is excited for the chance to meet and collaborate with the Chief Jail Inspectors from across the country about ways to improve our current corrections system and increase its efficiency.
