Latest Sex Sting Operation Nets 32

June 27, 2011

“Operation Summer Nights” nails 32 suspects Intent on having sex with a child

The 32 men arrived at a vacation home in Clermont, Florida armed with Skittles, M&Ms, vodka, condoms and lubricants. They expected to have sex with children ages 9 to 14, whom they had met on the Internet. Instead, they met law enforcement officers, armed with guns and handcuffs – ready to give them what they deserved.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office Sex Sting Operation — the latest in a series of stings based in Florida — was the most successful among Sheriffs' Offices this year.  As Lake County Sheriff Gary Borders said, in addition to getting dangerous criminals off the street, the operation also served to educate parents. “We want parents of children of all ages to know what dangers lurk on the internet and take the steps necessary to protect their children.”

Most were from Florida, but two came from out of state — Texas and Georgia. One out-of-state suspect brought his two children with him, saying he couldn't find a babysitter. The kids are now with the Department of Children and Families.

According to NBC Sports, one of the suspects was employed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  >>>More
