Tallahassee, FL (June 26, 2013) – After more than forty years in law enforcement, the Florida Sheriffs Association’s Law Enforcement Coordinator Roy Hudson has chosen to retire. Since 2007, Roy has been responsible for creating, directing and managing statewide programs for Florida’s Sheriffs. His time with FSA was spent working with Chief Deputies and Directors of Training ensuring that Sheriff’s Offices received the most relevant and effective training. Roy partnered with the Drug Enforcement Agency to bring the first Advanced Narcotics course to Florida and within the last year has brought more than nine courses on Intelligence Led Policing.

“The Florida Sheriffs Association would like to thank Roy for his dedication to law enforcement,” said Steve Casey, Executive Director of the Florida Sheriffs Association. “His background and expertise has been an invaluable asset to Florida’s Sheriffs and we wish him all the best as he pursues many of his personal passions.”

Roy has been recognized as the Distinguished Law Enforcement Officer of the Year by the Palm Beach Post as well as Officer of the Year from the Florida Narcotic Officers’ Association. During his time at the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, he was the only local officer in the United States to be made the Resident Agent in Charge of an Office of Drug Enforcement Administration. Roy is also a nationally published author on several law enforcement and security issues.

FSA wishes Roy all the best in his retirement. Roy will continue to be a reserve Deputy for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
