National Tire Safety Week 2021: Do Your Part, Know Your Roll
National Tire Safety Week, created by the U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA) as a consider tire safety awareness campaign, is June 28-July 4. This year's theme is “Do Your Part, Know Your Roll” and focuses on educating motorists about proper tire care and maintenance as an important part of road safety.
“Safety has always been a priority for USTMA and its partners, and the lens through which we view safety has expanded as a result of the pandemic,” said Anne Forristall Luke, president and CEO of USTMA. “National Tire Safety Week aims to educate drivers about the vital yet practical steps they can take to properly maintain and care for their tires. Tires are the only part of a vehicle that touches the road, so you want to keep them in top shape to help you stay safe on the road.”
In honor of National Tire Safety Week, FSA wants to remind Sheriffs' Offices about its tire contract and share Fleet Tire Maintenance & Safety Best Practices Tips, from Leon County Fleet Management Division Director Tim Coxwell.
FSA Cooperative Purchasing Program (CPP) provides purchasers with a variety of tire manufacturers and a several different types of tires to meet their needs. During FY 2019-2020, there were a total of 77,200 tires purchased from the FSA CPP tire contract. Specific types of tires available on the FSA CPP contract include: pursuit & emergency high speed; passenger vehicle; light truck & related vehicles; commercial trucks & related vehicles; off road equipment; agriculture – farm & implement; specialty tires; off road solid rubber molded tires; press on solid rubber tires, and industrial solid rubber tires.
