Two hundred fifty days. That is how long it will have been between closing the books on the 2023 legislative session and the first day of the 2024 legislative session on January 9. With an early start to session this year, it seems like the FSA just completed one set of public safety priorities and are now right back with another new set of ideas.
Florida is home to some of the finest and well-trained law-enforcement leaders in the country – and that doesn’t happen by accident. Through ongoing training, support, and cutting-edge research, the Florida Sheriffs Association has demonstrated a strong commitment to equipping leaders to better serve their agencies and communities through its prestigious Commanders Academy.
Having spent the majority of my adult life working in law enforcement, first as a line officer, then later as a supervisor, and finally as a senior member of management, I found most of my tasks and duties were similar to those done by my counterparts in other industries.
