Florida Sheriffs Association Honors Fallen Deputies at Ceremony

Today, the Florida Sheriffs Association (FSA) honored all of the deputies and officers who gave their lives in service of the law and to the state of Florida. At the ceremony, three names were added to the FSA Memorial Wall. FSA President Sheriff Sadie Darnell and Okaloosa County Sheriff Larry Ashley joined Sheriffs from across the state at the FSA Memorial Wall to celebrate the lives of the men and women who died while serving their communities.

Florida Sheriffs Association Awards Scholarship to Outstanding STEM Students

Each year, the Florida Sheriffs Association invests in the lives of exceptional students by awarding scholarships to some of the state’s hardest working and most talented individuals. Last year, the Florida Sheriffs Association received a generous donation of $20,000 from the Motorola Solutions Foundation to create a STEM scholarship for students pursuing a career in any STEM-related field (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math.)

Women’s History Month in 2025 will be one for the history books at the Florida Sheriffs Association (FSA). The FSA is proud to announce the successful completion of the first-ever Florida Sheriffs Women’s Leadership Academy. This groundbreaking leadership program is designed to elevate women currently serving in leadership roles within Florida’s Sheriffs’ Offices.

Honoring Those Who Made The Ultimate Sacrifice

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls as National Police Week. This year the names of 273 fallen officers were added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C., which includes 117 officers who died in the line of duty in 2014.
