The Florida Sheriffs Association announced that Deputy Julie Sienko of the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office has been selected as the 2016 Corrections Officer of the Year. The award, presented each year at the FSA Winter Conference, is given to one corrections officer who has demonstrated exemplary service in the line of duty.
Florida’s elected law enforcement officials, including Florida Sheriffs Association President and Alachua County Sheriff Sadie Darnell and Florida Sheriffs Association Legislative Chairman and Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, today announced a proposal to ensure that law abiding, concealed carry permit holders are protected from arrest and prosecution for inadvertently displaying a firearm. The FSA is offering this proposal to protect Florida’s 1.5 million concealed carry permit holders and clarify Florida laws related to the inadvertent display of firearms, without legalizing complete open carry.
FSA is pleased to announce that it has named two new Honorary Sheriffs. Roger Bouchard of Live Oak and Bill Powers of Tallahassee accepted this honor yesterday at the Florida Sheriffs Association’s Summer Conference.
