Columbia County Sheriff Mark Hunter talks about the importance of upholding the Florida Sheriffs Association’s long history of accountability and accomplishments and striking a balance as a sheriff between being present at the Capitol to monitor legislation and being present in the community. Sheriff Hunter also discusses the importance of his deputies’ presence in the community, both as a deterrence to criminal activity that might occur without their presence and as a comfort to citizens in the community, and stresses relationship building with community residents.
